> How do I care for my Zaffre sterling silver?
Zaffre Jewellery is made from pure 925 sterling silver, which is a beautiful precious metal, but it does require care.
Avoid abrasive chemicals, immersion in salt or chlorinated water – they may deteriorate the surface of your sterling silver, which cleaning cannot repair.

Perfumes, moisturizers, hairspray and personal soaps etc will all work to dull the appearance of your silver. We recognize that these things are a part of life, and suggest regular cleaning to help keep your jewellery in sparkling condition. Use a soft, dry cloth and a specialised silver jewellery cleaner to remove tarnish and dullness. Please note: chlorine and bleach accelerate tarnishing and should be avoided.

> How do I care for my cultured pearls?

Cultured pearls will continue to look beautiful for many years if cared for properly. Like your sterling silver, you should keep your freshwater cultured pearls free of perfumes, cosmetics, perspiration and dirt. The best way to clean them is to carefully wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Never use chemicals on your pearls.

> How do I care for my crystal or stone sets?

Crystal, Marcasite, Onyx and Turquoise are commonly used in Zaffre Jewellery and like sterling silver, they require care. It is always best to avoid wearing these pieces in water - particularly in swimming pools and spas, as chlorine can damage your jewellery in a very short time.

Perfumes, moisturizers, hairspray and personal soaps etc will all work to make your stones and crystals dull, and may affect the stone setting.

> What is Sterling Silver?

The official designation of “Sterling” to a piece of Silver indicates that it contains at least 92.5% of pure Silver. This is why genuine sterling silver is stamped with 925.

The remaining 7.5% comprises of other metal alloys, most commonly copper. Although it may seem that “pure” Silver would be most desirable, more than 92.5% purity is too pliable and easily dents, bends and scratches.

> What is Tungsten Carbide?

Tungsten Carbide, also known as Tungsten Steel is approximately three times more rigid than steel and is much denser than steel or titanium giving it a much heavier feel. It is comparable with sapphire in hardness and can only be polished and finished with abrasives of superior hardness such as diamonds. This gives it a incredible resistance to scratching and general wear and tear.
